What It Does

  • Paste a video link and choose a quality. The qualities offered depend on the video and the site.
  • Audio only saves the original audio track as it is.
  • Pause and resume work for most downloads.
  • Downloads are listed in the app, with a history you can search.
  • Videos are saved to Downloads\VidBlaze.
  • One download runs at a time; the next ones wait in a queue.
  • Works with YouTube and Rumble (tested on Windows) and with other sites that yt-dlp supports. Support for each site can change.

What It Does Not Do

  • No batch download or several links at once.
  • No playlist or channel download.
  • No browser extension.
  • No system tray or background mode: downloads stop when you close the window.
  • No subtitles.
  • No settings screen, and the download folder cannot be changed.
  • No conversion to MP3 or other formats.

What Happens the First Time You Open It

The first start downloads three programs VidBlaze needs: yt-dlp, FFmpeg and Node.js, about 170 MB in total, from github.com and nodejs.org. You need an internet connection for this. Each download is checked with a SHA-256 checksum before it is used. The programs are saved for your Windows user account, so this happens once.

A progress bar shows which program is being downloaded. If something goes wrong, VidBlaze says why and offers a Retry button. VidBlaze does not open its main screen until all three programs are in place.

Security software sometimes removes or blocks downloaded programs. If that happens, the message tells you to allow the tools folder and press Retry (see the FAQ below and the install guide).

What You Can Check

  • The size and SHA-256 checksum of the installer are above. Compare them with the file you downloaded (the install guide shows how).
  • The installer is hosted on GitHub, in the VidBlaze releases.
  • The installer is not code-signed. That is why Windows SmartScreen warns you.
  • The installer is set up to install for your user account only.
  • What the app contacts, and what it stores on your PC, is listed in the Privacy Policy. The programs it downloads are named in the Terms of Use.

See the Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use and App Permissions. The install steps are in the Windows install guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a VidBlaze for Windows, and which versions of Windows does it need?

Yes. VidBlaze for Windows is a free installer for Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). It was tested by the developer on clean Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs, with YouTube and Rumble, and on a standard (non-admin) account. It does not run on 32-bit Windows or on Windows 7 and 8.

Why does Windows say "Windows protected your PC" when I open the installer?

Windows shows this screen for programs it does not recognize, and the VidBlaze installer is not code-signed, so Windows cannot tell who published it. To continue, select More info, then Run anyway (shown in your Windows language). Only do this for the file you downloaded from vidblaze.app or from the VidBlaze release on GitHub, and compare its SHA-256 with the one on this site first (steps in the Windows install guide). The download page also links a VirusTotal scan of the file.

Why does VidBlaze download files the first time I open it on Windows?

The first start downloads three programs the app needs: yt-dlp, FFmpeg and Node.js, about 170 MB in total. You need an internet connection for this. Each download is checked with a SHA-256 checksum before it is used. It happens once for your Windows account; the app also looks for a newer yt-dlp from time to time. If a download fails, VidBlaze says why and offers a Retry button.

Does the Windows app collect my data?

You don't need an account, and the Windows app does not include analytics or crash reporting. It does contact a few servers to work (for its settings, to download its tools, and to download the videos you ask for). The full list is in the Privacy Policy. The Windows app does not read or store cookies.

Where does VidBlaze save my videos on Windows?

In the VidBlaze folder inside your Downloads folder (Downloads\VidBlaze). You can't change the folder in the app. If a file with the same name exists, VidBlaze adds (1), (2) and so on instead of replacing it.

Can I close the window while it downloads?

Downloads run inside the VidBlaze window. If you close it, downloads stop, and VidBlaze asks you first. Only one download runs at a time; if you start another, it waits in a queue. The queue is not saved when you close the app.

Can I save only the audio?

Yes. Audio only saves the video's original audio track as it is. It is not converted to MP3.

Setup says it could not save or start a tool, or security software removed a file. What do I do?

Allow the folder %APPDATA%\com.vidblaze\vidblaze\tools in your security software, then press Retry. If the message mentions your connection, check your internet, firewall or proxy, and your PC's date and time.

How do I uninstall it?

Open Settings, then Apps (Apps & features on Windows 10), select VidBlaze and choose Uninstall. VidBlaze asks whether to also remove the downloaded tools, settings and logs; the default answer is No. Your downloaded videos are never deleted.

Can it download playlists, channels, or several links at once?

No. VidBlaze downloads one video per link and does not do batch downloads. Videos that are private, protected by DRM, or need a login can't be downloaded, and the qualities offered depend on the video.
